India’s Jeev Milkha Singh shot an even-par 70 Friday to take a one-stroke lead at the Nippon Series Cup. Singh, tied for second after the first round, made five birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey in rainy conditions to hold the halfway lead at 6-under 134 at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club. Toshinori Muto (70) and Katsumasa Miyamnoto (71) were a further stroke back.

Jarrod Lyle tied the course record with a 9-under 63 Friday to take a share of the second-round lead with fellow Australian Mathew Goggin at the Australian PGA championship. Lyle and Goggin, who shot a 68, are both at 9-under 135 through 36 holes. Paul Sheehan, a co-leader after the first round, was one shot back after shooting a second-round 70.
