The Tennessee Titans released wide receiver Mike Williams before Thursday afternoon’s practice. The Titans signed Williams, the 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft by the Detroit Lions, last Thanksgiving and told him after the season to get his weight and conditioning under control. Federer answering interview questions in detail ?

Did you folks notice any pattern while reading Roger’s latest interview at Cincinnati Open? Or is it only me again trying to find hair on an egg shell ?

When I was getting ready to read the interview, I just scrolled down to check the length of the interview and I felt like, what? Why are the answers so huge? After a pause, I found an answer.

Any question other than his decline, Roger is going to feast on it and extend as long as he can. That cuts the time for other reporters to put their questions and the scheduled time for interview will be over in a flash. In this way he can answer as few questions as possible with detailed explanations. How about getting your own laptop to the interview room and showing a power point presentation to justify your answers so that you can cut down the interview time?

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former Pro Bowl kick returner Eddie Drummond on Thursday to help bolster what has been a weak special teams unit. Drummond, who grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Penn State, was a Pro Bowl selection as a Detroit Lions after the 2004 season, when he returned two punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Ken Griffey Jr. is leaving home to get back in a pennant race. The Chicago White Sox acquired Griffey from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday, hoping the 38-year-old outfielder can help them hold onto their slim lead in the AL Central. The Reds sent Griffey and cash to Chicago for reliever Nick Masset and Triple-A second baseman Danny Richar.

De-Ro to FC-Co?

It seems as though Danish side FC Copenhagen have rekindled their interest in the Houston Dynamos former MLS MVP. Would De-Rosario be interested in a move to Europe? He has achieved pretty much all there is to achieve in US soccer, 4 MLS Cups and various all-star appearances and the 30 year old may be looking to challenge himself further in a European league.

U-19 NEWS

Well the U-19 did not perform very well in the UEFA Championships. We lost to eventual winners Germany and Hungary in the group stages. We did beat in our last match which was enough to qualify for the Under 20 World Cup next summer. We definitely need to work on our tactics.

Mediotiempo cartoons of course have something to say about the exits of Atlante and Pachuca. Here the Pachuca gopher and little horse of Atlante complain about their mistreatment to the authorities. It’s paradoxical, considering the players that got physically rough as the games ended.

Holdout running back Steven Jackson missed his seventh day and 10th practice of St. Louis Rams training camp Thursday, with no apparent movement in the impasse. Jackson, entering the final season of a four-year contract he signed after the Rams drafted him in the first round in 2004, is seeking a multiyear deal.
