Paul lifts unbeaten Hornets over Cavs (AP)

A visit from LeBron James produced the first sellout in New Orleans Arena this season. The 17,623 fans who showed up perhaps noticed there was something else worth watching. Namely, their own team. David West had 27 points and 15 rebounds, leading the New Orleans Hornets to their fifth straight victory, 86-76 over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night.

Petr Prucha waited 17 games and then some for a night like this. Unable to finish in front, or from anywhere else, since mid-November, Prucha scored two of the New York Rangers’ season-high, five power-play goals in a 6-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. “It’s a miracle,” he said.

WWE Wrestling — The Year in Review

wwe wrestling

It’s been a turbulent year in WWE wrestling this year, what with deaths, murders, suicides, allegations of widespread steroid use, and a staggering number of injuries that have sidelined major WWE wrestling stars. Probably the saddest and most shocking tale to emerge from the world of WWE wrestling was the tragic murder-suicide of Chris Benoit and his wife and son. This horrible tragedy was linked to another major scandal that plagued WWE wrestling: steroid use. It was whispered that many major WWE wrestling stars like John Cena had used the banned substances, but it was difficult to pin it on anyone but Kurt Angle and the troubled and murderous Chris Benoit. There were a large number of deaths that made the headlines, including the passing of the Fabulous Moolah, Mike Awesome, Bad News Brown, and Bam Bam Bigelow, among many others. The list of the injured was long and troubling, especially since many of the injured were top name stars like HHH, John Cena, HBK, Batista, and Undertaker, to name only a few. How all the deaths and injuries will affect WWE wrestling in the new year remains to be seen.

Raptors’ Bosh, O’Neal too much for Clips (AP)

NBA No Comments »

Toronto’s Chris Bosh realized it was a game the Raptors weren’t going to win on shooting and rebounding, so they had to just keep plugging away. The Raptors got the job done, using tough defense and sure ball-handling to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 80-77 on Tuesday night. Toronto shot just 37.5 percent from the field to the Clippers’ 39 percent and were outrebounded 50-43.

WWE Wrestling Greets Troops for Holidays

WRESTLING No Comments »

WWE wrestling decided to spread holiday cheer to the troops
in Iraq in an event to raise their spirits. 19 WWE wrestling superstars
including Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, etc along with Vince
McMahon and assorted WWE wrestling Divas toured 20 different troop bases
throughout Iraq in only three days. This is the fifth time that WWE wrestling
has went to Iraq to raise the spirits of our beloved troops. I hope that the
troops enjoyed the event.

If you are interested in seeing the WWE wrestling Iraq tour
then tune in to the USA Network at 9:00pm on December 24 or Christmas Eve. The
event is called the WWE Tribute to the Troops. I wish a happy holiday to all
American troops in Iraq and hope that they all can return safely. Being a citizen,
I cannot begin to understand what life as a soldier in Iraq must be like. All I
can say is that we all honor the work that they are doing. Keep it up troops
and I hope that you all get to return soon.

Play Wrestling Games To Increase Physical Activity And Health

play wrestling games

Recently I watched a WWE wrestling match with a coworker. He was making comments about the wrestling rumors that are always surrounding the sport and then he informed me that he was once a wrestler in high school. His passion for the sport was obvious and he stated that he loved to play wrestling games while he was growing up. It makes me think that most of these wrestling athletes probably grow up with similar passions. WWF wrestling, now known as WWE wrestling, has been around for years. My children absolutely loved the shows when they came on television and we even made the attempt to go to a couple of live matches when they came to a city close enough to us. Allowing children to play wrestling games gives them the ability to be involved in some physical activity and thus help them keep fit and strong. Being taught a few wrestling techniques which could be effectively used for self defense measures could help to give a child some measure of self esteem and self confidence.

Pro Tennis Fan 2008

TENNIS No Comments »

Well the 2007 tennis season is now officially over with the conclusion of the David Cup Finals. I wasn’t really that surprised that the US won, considering the strange matchups the Russian coaches put on the court. Not using Davydenko for singles, and then the doubles matchup they put out there did not make any sense to me.

Anyhow, I will be trying to post more regularly in 2008. I lost some motivation after the US Open ended. Any suggestions for the upcoming season would be appreciated! Should be an exciting year with Federer poised to challenge Sampras’ all time Grand Slam record!

Wrestling rumors won’t go away until dealt with.

What exactly is it that’s driving the accusations of steroid use in professional WWE wrestling, and professional WWF wrestling (what sport isn’t under the microscope right now, by the way?). If you look at the size of the people in the sport, I mean, they are huge. Look at their neck muscles alone. Where do those massive amounts of muscle tissue come from? Certainly a hefty amount of muscle mass can occur from repetitive weight training and weight building, over time, but there seems to be a rapid and mammoth increase in muscle-mass size over previous wrestling eras. Look back in archives going back as far as you can if you don’t believe me, or watch old video or film of wrestlers from many years back–you’ll see what I’m talking about. On a different note, lots of other sports are trying to clean up their acts and get a handle on illegal steroid usage, and for good reason. It’s life threatening–an athlete’s life (and his family’s emotional health) is worth more a certain look, or a certain sport’s achievement percentage, or a certain number of wins for the team. So, whether you’re a WWF wrestling fan, a WWE wrestling fan, or if you’ve been trying to decipher the wrestling rumors swirling around Chris Benoit and his untimely death, all wrestling rumors dealing with steroid use won’t go away until they are dealt with by their respective associations.
